.   We are a Jewish Orthodox community affiliated to the Union of Orthodox Synagogues, Johannesburg.
We are a community of only 120 souls and are still viable and active .We have a beautiful Shul complex situated in an upmarket residential area and have daily minyanim and a strong Shabbas minyan.
All Yomtavim are strictly observed. We are an ageing community with a high proportion of retired gentlemen.
.   Bloemfontein is a large city of approximately 500,000 people. It is centrally situated and is a popular Conference Centre. It has an excellent University with one of the best Medical Schools in the country. It is a clean city and is also known as the “City of Roses”
 We have a close connection with the Kimberley Jewish community.

Because of the small size of our community we are fighting for survival.Under the circumstances we are doing remarkably well. We often have cultural evenings for the community, as well as communal suppers.
We have our own Chevra Kadisha and two active Women’s Organisations namely: The Union of Jewish Women and the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society.
The visits of the Soul Train to Bloemfontein are very much appreciated.

Last night we had a very successful concert with Lior Kaminetski.

Thamk you again for your wonderful efforts to get him  ( and all your artists to our little commmunity )
